NSCN-IM militant surrenders in Arunachal's Tirap district

Itanagar, Feb 9: An active member of the Naga militant group, NSCN(IM), has surrendered before the district magistrate of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday with arms and ammunition, official sources said.

The surrendered militant belonged to the Isak-Muivah faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM). He was holding the rank of SS (self-styled) Pvt in the outfit.

"Thaisii Raomai, 38, of Khamsom village under Senapati police station in Manipur, who was an active member of NSCN-IM from the year 2006 till date, has surrendered before Tirap District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Taro Mize at Khonsa in presence of Tirap District Police and 6th Assam Rifles officials on February 8, 2022," the DM said.

The surrenderee also deposited one .32 mm pistol, one .32 mm magazine and live ammunition.

"He has surrendered with a condition to live a normal life with the family members back in his village," the DM said.
