More than 10 lakh doses of Covid vaccines administered to Manipur residents

Imphal, July 17: Manipur has so far given 10,10,355 doses of Covid vaccines including 9,00,954 first and 1,09,401 second doses to the residents.

According to the latest official reports available here on Saturday, a total of 4,08,683 first doses(second dose 1266)of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,32,212 first doses(second dose 18,210)to people between 45-59 years besides 1,18,975 first doses(second dose 9214)to people above 60 years till date.

The maximum number of doses of Covid vaccines were administered to residents of Imphal West district (2,65,037)among all the 16 districts while Kamjong district has the least(7909) number of doses of Covid vaccines.

Among the 10 hill districts, the maximum (82,812) number of doses of Covid vaccines was given to residents of Churachandpur while 15,410 doses of vaccines were given to the residents of Tamenglong district where the district administration had once announce to give cash rewards to individuals or village authority if they're able to motivate the population for vaccination.

It may be mentioned that the vaccination drive in the state was formerly on January 16 this year. The vaccination rate was low at the initial stage but it gradually increased in the recent past. The highest number of Covid vaccines was administered to the state residents on July 14 wherein altogether 34,194 doses of Covid vaccines including 29,824 first and 4370 second doses were administered.

Similarly 27,282 and 27,149 doses of Covid vaccines were also administered to the residents in the state on July 15 and 16 respectively.

On Friday, the state recorded 1128 new Covid-19 cases out of 7184 samples tested.As a result, the state's total infection tally increases to 82,688. The total number of active cases also increased to 9,033.

The state also recorded 10 fatalities of Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1350,official sources said. The victims are from Imphal West (4) Imphal East(4),Jiribam(1)and Kangpokpi(1) districts.On the other hand with 643 new recoveries, the total number of recovered Covid 19 cases reached 72,305.
