Mizoram's COVID-19 tally crosses 5k-mark

Aizawl, April 21: Mizoram's tally for COVID-19 today reached 5,085 with 90 new cases detected during the last 24 hours. The new patients included nine CRPF personnel and 17 children aged between 4 months and 15 years, an official statement said.

The 90 new cases were detected from 2,605 samples tested on Tuesday, which put infection rate on a single day at 3.45 percent.

Mizoram has so far conducted 2,80,243 tests for Covid19.

Meanwhile, state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said 1,36,235 people, including 32,773 senior citizens, have been inoculated till Tuesday and 35,501 of them have received both doses of the Covid19 vaccine.

While 69 cases were reported from Aizawl district, 16 cases were reported from Lawngtlai district, two cases each from Mamit and Kolasib districts and one from Serchhip.

Of the new patients, 31 have travel history while the rest 59 were locally-infected, it said

A total of 29 patients have developed symptoms.

Mizoram now has 504 active cases while 4,569 people have recovered from the disease and 12 have succumbed to it.
