Mizoram reports 570 new COVID-19 cases, single-day positivity rate 13.26 per cent

Aizawl, Nov 18: At least 570 people, including 118 students, teachers and staff of a private school in Aizawl tested positive for novel coronavirus, pushing Mizoram's COVID-19 tally to 1,30,415, an official statement said on Thursday.


The state had reported 495 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The COVID-19 death toll remained at 467 as no fresh fatality had been reported in the last 24 hours, the Information and Public Relations department statement said. Of the fresh 570 cases, 321 were reported from Aizawl district, Lunglei (52), Champhai (41), Sechhip (37), Kolasib (26), Mamit (25), Hnahthial (21), Khawzawl (18), Lawngtlai (14), Siaha (9) and Saitual (6), it said. The single-day positivity rate increased to 13.26 per cent from 8.87 per cent the previous day, it said.


Mizoram now has 5,616 active COVID-19 cases, while 1,24,332 people have recovered from the infection, including 344 people on Wednesday. The COVID-19 recovery rate now is 95.33 per cent and the death rate is 0.35 per cent. The northeastern state has so far tested 13.88 lakh samples for COVID-19 including 4,298 samples on Wednesday.


Over 7 lakh people have been vaccinated and of this 5.43 lakh beneficiaries have already received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine till Wednesday, state Immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
