Mizoram records highest single-day spike at 347, three more deaths

Aizawl, June 10: On the 52nd day of continuous lockdown, Mizoram today logged its highest single-day cases of COVID-19 as 347 more people, including 81 children, tested positive for the virus.

The 347 new cases, detected from 3,337 samples tested during the last 24 hours, also put the day's positivity rate at 10.39 per cent. The new cases took state's tally to 14,534.

Mizoram also reported three more deaths today bringing the toll to 61.

A 25-year-old woman, a 15-year-old girl and 52-year-old Havildar Lalramliana, of Mizoram Police, died today at Zoram Medical College. All of them had illness before they tested positive for the virus.

Of the new cases, 246 were reported from Aizawl district, 50 from Kolasib, 31 from Lawngtlai and 12 from Lunglei. Saitual reported five, Siaha three and Khawzawl reported one case.

Of the 347 new patients, 13 have travel history while the rest were found to be locally infected.

As many as 188 have developed symptoms of COVID-19.

With 150 recovered patients discharged today till 5:00 pm, Mizoram has 3,431 active cases while a total of 11,041 people have so far recovered from the disease.
