Mizoram, April 25: A massive wildfire has broken out in Lunglei district of Mizoram, which has now started to spread to adjoining areas of Lunglei town.
Lunglei is located in the south-central part of Mizoram.
Fire reached Chanmari locality of Lunglei town and district headquarters.Firefighters and volunteers have been fighting to put the fire out, some even suffering serious burn injuries.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga has requested Indian Air Force (IAF) for help.
On the requisition of the State Government, the Indian Air Force is deploying two Mi-17V5 helicopters, equipped with Bambi Bucket, to douse the major fire in Lunglei district and adjoining areas.
