Manipur's Covid-19 recovery rate rises to 90.12 per cent

Imphal, July 6: With 609 new recoveries including 340 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Manipur reached 65,540, according to a press release of the health department. Thus Manipur's recovery rate increased to 90.12 %.

Out of total recovered cases, 61,754 are from the general population while the remaining 3,786 are Central security personnel, it said.

Meanwhile the state reported 432 new Covid-19 positive cases when 3,204 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 72,718 besides decreasing the total number of active cases to 5974, the release said.

The new positive cases were detected from 13 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal East (118), Bishnupur (78) and Imphal West (73) districts.

Meanwhile the state reported total fatalities of 8 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid-19 death toll to 1204, it said. The victims are from Imphal West (4), Imphal East (1), Ukhrul (1), Kakching (1) and Senapatil (1). They expired at four health centres in the state.

So far the State has so far given 7,38,631 doses of Covid vaccines including 6,52,691 first and 85,940 second doses to the residents.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,88,349 people between 45-59 years and 1,04,094 people above 60 years besides 2,29,232 people between 18-44 years.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 65,196 while 1,51,760 frontline workers received both doses.
