Manipur to exempt fully vaccinated persons from producing negative Covid test reports

Imphal, July 2: In an effort to incentivise people to get vaccinated to protect themselves from Covid 19,the Manipur government has ordered to exempt fully vaccinated persons from producing negative Covid testing reports or from mandatory testing while entering the state.

The Health & Family Welfare authority in Manipur issued an order in this regard on June 30.As per the order, it stated that persons entering Manipur from outside the state who have been fully vaccinated with two doses of Covid vaccine shall be exempted from producing negative Covid testing reports or from mandatory testing on arrival at Imphal airport or at entry points at Mao Gate and Jiribam.

They should produce a valid certificate depicting the fully vaccinated status of the person with two doses of Covid vaccine, said the order. Persons who are not vaccinated or only partially vaccinated i.e. received only 1(one) dose of Covid vaccine will not be exempted and shall be required to produce negative Covid test reports at the time of entry into Manipur.

Meanwhile Manipur on thursday reported 508 new Covid 19 positive cases when 4,460 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 70,298 besides decreasing the total number of active cases to 5,930, according to a press release of the health department.

On the other hand with 578 new recoveries including 251 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 63,206, the release said. Thus Manipur's recovery rate stands at 89.91%.

The state reported total fatalities of 12 Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1150, it added.

So far the state has given 6,66,625 Covid vaccines including 5,82,280 first and 84,345 second doses to the residents.
