Imphal, Sept 29: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday officially announced the Super IAS 500, a scholarship programme for deserving and talented IAS aspirants of Manipur at a solemn function held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Imphal.
The Scholarship worth Rs 2.8 crore for face-to-face IAS coaching had been taken up under Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme for Civil Services Aspirants. Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, Chairman, Loktak Development Authority L Sushindro, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board L Rameshwor, Commissioner (Higher and Technical Education) M Harekrishna and Director, Education (U) Rangitabali Waikhom also attended the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren Singh said the Super IAS 500 Program would provide benefit to many civil service aspirants of the state as they need not go outside the State to join coaching classes incurring large amounts of money.
Expressing satisfaction on the recent selection of six candidates from the State in the Civil Service Examination, 2020 conducted by Union Public Service Commission, he stated that Face-to-face coaching facilities by best IAS mentors from Alternative Learning System (ALS), Delhi would be conducted at the State Academy Training (SAT), Takyelpat with sponsorship from the State Government. He also informed that the Government was planning to construct a permanent complex with hostel accommodation for conducting coaching classes for UPSC examinations.
The six civil services examination successful candidates from Manipur are Parikshit Thoudam (AIR-60) of Uripok in Imphal, Waikhom Nydia Devi (AIR-180) of Kakching, Heikrujam Prasanjeet (AIR-578)of Heirangoithong in Imphal, Kshetrimayum Deepi Chanu (AIR-621)of Kakching, Hatchinghoi Haokip (AIR-673) Tuibuong of Churachandpur and Lourembam Nelson Mangangcha (AIR-757)of Keishamthong in Imphal.
According to a press release from the Chief Minister's secretariat here, the first phase of coaching class would commence from November 8, this year and continue till April 30, 2022. And those aspirants, who cleared the Civil Service Preliminary Examination to be held on June 5, 2022 would be further availed with free Mains Crash Course and Test Series for Mains examinations commencing from June 10 to August 14, 2022.
National Sales Head, ALS Prateek Bhattacharya, while addressing the media, announced an additional Scholarship worth Rs 1.1 crore for VSAT IAS Coaching under ALS IAS Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative for Youth of Manipur for 300 IAS Aspirants under various Scholarship slabs.
