Imphal, Jul 5: Manipur on sunday reported 643 new Covid 19 positive cases when 4,320 samples were tested at 18 laboratories in the last 24 hours, according to a press release of the state health department.
Thus the state's total infection tally increases to 72,286 while the total number of active cases is 6,159.
The new positive cases were detected from 13 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal districts.
Meanwhile the state reported total fatalities of 8 Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1196, it said. The victims are from Imphal West, Imphal East,Churachandpur,Bishnupur and Tengnoupal districts of the state.
They expired at RIMS,JNIMS,Raj Medicity,Shija hospital,MSF Little hospital and district hospital Churachandpur in the state,it added.
On the other hand with 602 new recoveries including 226 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 64,931, the release said. Thus Manipur's recovery rate stands at 89.82 %.
Out of total recovered cases, 61,145 are from the general population while the remaining 3,786 are Central security personnel, it said.
As of Sunday, 9,20,039 persons were tested for COVID 19 while 6,98,499 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.
So far the state has given 7,29,061 doses of Covid vaccines including 6,43,311 first and 85,750 second doses to the residents.
