Manipur reports 14 Covid 19 deaths in 24 hours

IMPHAL,July 12: Manipur on Sunday reported total fatalities of 14 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1272, official sources said.

The victims are from Bishnupur (4), Imphal East (2), Imphal West (2),Tengnoupal (1),Thoubal (1), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (1) and Kakching (1) districts. They expired at seven health centres in the State.

Meanwhile the State reported 911 new Covid 19 positive cases when 6,320 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 77,731, sources added. The total number of active cases increased to 7,235.

The new positive cases were detected from 15 districts in the State and maximum number of cases were reported from Imphal West (269), Imphal East (212), and Bishnupur (140) districts.

On the other hand, with 570 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 69,224, it added. Thus Manipur's recovery rate stands at 89.05%.

As of Sunday, 9,55,967 persons were tested for COVID 19 while 7,03,223 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.

So far the state has given 8,71,470 doses of Covid vaccines including 7,77,202 first and 94,268 second doses to the residents.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 2,17,752 people between 45-59 years and 1,14,090 people above 60 years besides 3,20,575 people between 18-44 years.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 65,521 while 1,53,532 frontline workers received both doses.

Meanwhile Manipur police on Sunday detained 112 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of Rs 29,350 was also collected as fine.
