Manipur reports 1,284 new Covid-19 cases

Imphal, July 24: Manipur recorded 1284 new Covid-19 positive cases, when 6,836 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the State's total infection tally to 90,262, according to a state health department report. The total number of active cases stands at 9,939.

The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (381), Imphal East (310) and Churachandpur (110) districts.

The state also reported total fatalities of 15 Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1451, the official sources said. The victims are from Imphal West (7), Bishnupur (3), Imphal East (2), Kangpokpi (2) and Churachandpur (1) districts.

On the other hand with 949 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 78,872, the report added. Thus the state's recovery rate stands at 87.38%.

As of Friday, 10,33,260 persons were tested for COVID 19 while 7,10,623 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.

Since the formal launching of the vaccination drive on January 16 this year, Manipur has so far given 11,34,710 doses of Covid vaccines including 9,94,982 first and 1,39,728 second doses to the residents.

According to official reports available here, a total of 4,74,627 first doses (second dose 2787) of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,51,389 first doses(second dose 34,785)to people between 45-59 years besides 1,27,567 first doses(second dose 17,709)to people above 60 years till date.

In another development, Manipur police today detained 101 persons in the State for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of Rs 39,200 was also collected as fine.
