Manipur records 629 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

Imphal, Jun 24: Manipur recorded 629 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

The COVID-19 related death toll also rose to 1074 with nine more patients succumbing to the disease in the past 24 hours.

The Health department, in its latest update, showed detection of 629 fresh cases including two CAPF personnel as 5,336 persons were tested for the virus in the past 24 hours.

This took the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state to 65,622.

The number of recovered cases also reached 55,257 as 543 patients were discharged upon recuperation from the viral infection with 84.20% recovery rate

Currently, there are 9,291 active Covid-19 cases in the State.

The department reported deaths of nine patients due to COVID-19 complications in the last 24 hours, taking the overall fatality tally of the state to 1,074.

Of the nine, deaths of three each were from Imphal West and Imphal East and one each in Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Noney districts.

Analysis of the district-wise report of the new cases indicated a downward trend in the worst affected Imphal West and Imphal East district, even though the twin capital districts continued to contribute the largest number of daily spikes.

While 150 new cases were detected in Imphal West, Imphal East recorded 102 new cases.

At 94, Churachandpur district was in the third in terms of contribution of largest number of daily spikes after Imphal West and Imphal East.

Other districts contributing a larger number of fresh cases are Bishnupur (69), Kakching (54), Tengnoupal (57) and Thoubal (50). Ukhrul and Kangpokpi also reported 17 new cases each.
