Manipur logs 322 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths, 338 recoveries

Imphal, Sep 6: Manipur on Sunday reported 322 new Covid-19 cases and two fatalities while 338 patients recovered, the state Health department said.

With the new additions, the tally of COVID-19 cases in Manipur reached 1,15,399 and the death toll to 1,798, it said.

The two fresh deaths were reported in Thoubal and Churachandpur and none of them had COVID-19 vaccine, the Health department said.

A total of 1,10,341 patients have recovered from coronavirus infection in the state so far, leaving the state with 3,260 active cases. The recovery rate of the state stands at 95.61%.

With 3,491 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in the state reached 12,28,633, the department said. The daily positivity rate stands at 9.22%.

Although Imphal West district continued to share the highest number of new cases, the highest positivity rate was recorded in Noney district with 32.32%.

Of 99 samples tested in the district in the last 24 hours, results of 32 tests turned out to be positive for the virus.

Notably, two districts- Jiribam and Tengnoupal - reported no new cases even as 73 and 13 samples were tested respectively in these districts.

Imphal West reported 100 cases during the day, taking the tally to 39,144. The daily positivity rate of the district stands at 9.7% as 1,027 samples were tested in the district in the past 24 hours.

Churachandpur district reported 44 new cases, 42 in Imphal East, 28 in Kamjong, 25 in Bishnupur, 17 in Ukhrul and 14 in Thoubal.

Other districts reporting single digit cases are Chandel (three), Kakching (six), Kangpokpi (one), Pherzawl (one), Senapati (four) and Tamenglong (five).

With 6,338 more people inoculated on Saturday, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered so far in the state rose to 15,60,441.

The figures included 11,93,720 first doses and 3,66,721 second doses, the health department said.
