Manipur district authority wants shopkeepers, vendors to undergo Covid test and vaccination

Imphal, July 7: In view of the unabated positive cases of Covid 19 in Manipur's Bishnupur district, the district authority has informed to all pharmacies/chemists,shopkeepers selling essential commodities(grocery items) local vegetable & meat vendors etc to undergo Rapid Antigen Test(RAT) and get Covid vaccination latest by July 12.

"They are to produce RAT and vaccination report/certificate whenever demanded by the district authority," says a notification issued in this regard on Tuesday.

From July 1 to 6, a total of 415 persons were tested positive for Covid 19 while five persons have expired in the district, as per official reports available here.

Meanwhile the state reported 863 new Covid 19 positive cases when 3,204 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 73,581 besides increasing the total number of active cases to 6231,says a press release of health department.

The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (298), Imphal East (125), and Kakching(96) districts.

On the other hand with 592 new recoveries including 218 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 66,132, it said. Thus Manipur's recovery rate stands at 89.87 %.

Out of total recovered cases, 62,346 are from the general population while the remaining 3,786 are Central security personnel, it said.

The state has also reported total fatalities of 14 Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1218. The victims are from Imphal East,Thoubal, Imphal West, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts.

So far the state has given 7,69,107 doses of Covid vaccines including 6,81,679 first and 87,428 second doses to the residents.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,95,125 people between 45-59 years and 1,06,189 people above 60 years besides 2,50,188 people between 18-44 years.
