IMA Manipur branch to honour seven senior doctors on National Doctor's Day

Imphal,July 1: Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur State Branch to honour seven senior doctors as part of observing the National Doctor's Day on Thursday.

Informing this in a press release signed by IMA Manipur State Branch President Dr S Jugindra and its secretary Dr Ng Arunkumar Singh highlighted that Doctor's Day 2021 is very special as it is being observed in the backdrop of the present pandemic where more than 1500 doctors of the country including 12 doctors from Manipur laid down their lives in the fight against COVID.

"The Association has decided to dedicate the day to the 'COVID Martyrs' by paying homage to them," says the release. "The association has also decided to honour all the frontline COVID doctors who have dedicated their lives to the supreme service of humanity."

Further, seven seniors doctors who have contributed much to the healthcare of the state are also being honoured.The senior doctors are Dr M Angamla, Dr Sanasam Mema Devi, Dr Th Laxmikanta Sharma, Dr N Jitendra Singh, Dr Th Sudhirchandra Singh, Dr O Ibomcha Singh and Dr Ak Khamba Singh, it informed. The observance of Doctor's Day 2021 is being organised online under the theme "Save the Saviours". The Prime Minister of India will also address the entire Medical Fraternity of the country on the occasion of Doctor's Day in IMA Doctors' Day Program at 3 pm on July 1, it added.


It may be mentioned that Prime Minister has repeatedly reiterated the dedicated work by doctors & unparalleled importance of vaccination in the fight against the virus.
