Silchar: In what could arguably be called a massive spike in COVID-19 positive cases in recent times, as many as 312 cases have been detected in Cachar district on Saturday.
A 60 year old person afflicted by COVID-19 from Panchayat Road here died at 6 pm at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).District Health Department informed that while 114 persons were found to be RAT positive, a total of 198 persons were tested COVID-19 positive via the RT PCR test.
Sources in the health department informed that with 162 cases at the SMCH, there are 981 COVID-19 active cases in the district now.
