Agartala, Oct 22: Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Sushmita Dev was manhandled while four party activists were injured when a group of unknown miscreants attacked them at Amtali area of West Tripura district on Friday.
Their vehicle was also torched by the miscreants. Yuva Trinamool Congress convener Baptu Chakraborty confirmed the attack on the Trinamool Congress team headed by Ms Deb who is in the State to campaign for the party. The injured persons include Surya Kumar Sarkar, a close aide of Ms Deb, Amit Kumar Saha and Dipawantia Chakraborty, both activists of Yuva Trinamool Congress.
Chakraborty alleged the BJP backed goons were behind the attack on Trinamool Congress team. Tension runs high at Amatali area, barely 13 km from the state capital and additional security forces have been deployed to defuse tension. No arrest has been made yet in connection with the attack on the MP.
