Arunachal reports 26 more new COVID cases, active case tally rises to 127

Itanagar, Jan 8: Arunachal Pradesh has recorded 26 more fresh COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours that swelled its active caseload to 127, a senior health official said.

With this, the state's tally of confirmed cases mounted to 55,462, while the total number of recovered cases increased to 55,053 post recovery of two persons from the disease in the period, he said.

Of the new infections, six cases were reported from Itanagar Capital Complex, while three cases each came from Papum Pare, Lower Dibang Valley and Namsai districts. Changlang, Lohit, Tawang and West Kameng followed closely with two cases each, whereas East Siang, Leparada and Longding contracted one each.

Seven of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 19 symptomatic, the official said, adding that the day's positivity rate was 5.56 percent.

The frontier state's COVID-19 death toll remained at 282 as no fresh casualty was reported on Saturday.

On the other hand, more than 6,000 eligible people, including 4355 youngsters of 15 to 18 years, have received the COVID-19 vaccine doses during the last 24 hours, taking the state's cumulative vaccination coverage to over 14.85 lakh, state immunization officer Dr Dimong Padung said.
