Arunachal reports 222 fresh cases, 140 recoveries

Itanagar, May 7: The surge in COVID-19 infections continued in Arunachal Pradesh as 222 more persons in the State have tested positive for the contagion on Thursday. With this, the State's active caseload mounted to 1,858 and the overall tally of confirmed cases to 19,634.

On the other hand, as many as 140 patients were seen off during the same period following their recovery that took the total number of discharged cases to 17,717, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here last evening.

Of the fresh infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the maximum of 62 cases, followed by Lower Dibang Valley (26) and Namsai (19), whereas 13 cases each came from Lower Subansiri & Papum Pare, 11 each from Lower Siang & West Kameng, and 10 from East Siang.

Anjaw, Changlang & Tawang detected nine cases each, while Lohit registered eight, Upper Subansiri (six), West Siang (four), Tirap & Dibang Valley (three each) and Leparada two cases. One case each came from Kra Daadi, East Kameng, Shi-Yomi & Kamle.

146 of the total cases were found to be asymptomatic and 76 symptomatic, as per the bulletin.

Of the total recovered cases, Itanagar Capital Complex released 43 cases, Lower Dibang Valley 20, East Siang 13 and Tirap 10.

The State's COVID-19 recovery rate now stands at 90.24 per cent and the positivity rate at 9.46 per cent. With 59 casualties reported so far, the mortality rate stood at 0.30 per cent.

Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday tested 3,459 samples for COVID-19, taking the cumulative figure to 4,74,314, stated the bulletin.
