Arunachal reports 168 new COVID-19 cases, one more casualty

Itanagar, July 5: Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday recorded 168 new COVID-19 cases and one more casualty, taking the State's tally of confirmed cases to 37,105 and death toll to 177, respectively.

A 78-year-old female patient from Itanagar Capital Complex succumbed to the virus on Sunday at the Dedicated COVID Hospital, Chimpu here, taking the State capital's number of fatalities to 62. Her body was handed over to her family members as per COVID-19 SOP, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex detected the highest 59 cases, followed by Tawang 28, Papum Pare 17 and Lohit 16. 105 of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 63 symptomatic, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here last evening.

On the contrary, 263 COVID patients recuperated on the day that mounted the total number of recovered cases to 33,967. At present, the State's recovery rate stands at 91.54 per cent.

On a positive side, Itanagar Capital Complex also came on top with 54 recoveries, followed by Lower Subansiri at 22, while Namsai & West Kameng discharged 21 cases each.

Meanwhile, the State's active caseload has reduced to 2961 as the recoveries outnumbered the fresh infections in the period. The State's positivity rate stands at 7.98 per cent.

Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday collected 3,605 samples for COVID-19 testing that took the cumulative count to 7,84,187.
