Arunachal Pradesh reports 61 new COVID-19 cases

Itanagar, April 21: Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday reported 61 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the Northeastern state to 17,113, a health official said.

Among the new patients are two Army men, he said. Fifty-two of the new cases were detected through rapid antigen tests, four through RT-PCR and five through TrueNAT tests, he said.

Thirty-five of the new patients have symptoms, while the rest are asymptomatic, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest 21 new cases, followed West Kameng where 12 cases were detected, he said.

There are 222 new COVID-19 cases in the state at present.

Fifteen more persons recovered from the disease on Tuesday, taking the total recoveries to 16,835, the official said. The recovery rate was at 98.37 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 86.

The state tested 1,992 samples on Tuesday, the official said.

A total of 1,48,927 persons have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far in the state, and of them, 44,253 got the second dose, another official said. - PTI
