Arunachal Police sub-inspector found 'murdered'

Itanagar, Apr 1: A sub-inspector of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) was found dead at a government quarters he was residing at SRPL Colony, Itanagar on Friday.

"It was a case of homicide. The body of Sub-Inspector Sibu George with multiple wounds caused by sharp-edged weapons was found lying at his quarters at SRPL Colony near the Police Headquarters (PHQ) here this morning," APP PRO Rohit Rajbir Singh said.

Sources said that the assailants had stripped and tied him up before slitting his throat.

A native of Kollam, Kerala, late George, aged around 50 years, was serving as section officer (SO) in the DGP Cell of PHQ here. He has been staying alone.

A case was registered under Sections 302/201 of Indian Penal Code at the Chimpu Police Station and an investigation launched. No arrest has been made in this connection, the PRO said, while adding that police is working on this case.

"No one has been arrested so far but few people have been detained," Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom, when contacted, said without revealing much detail.
