Itanagar, Oct 30: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has complimented the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), one of the border guarding forces, for their "commendable work" in promoting the spirit of nationalism among the people residing along the international border, apart from ably discharging their duty of securing the country's frontiers.

Khandu, currently camping in his hometown, expressed this when the Inspector General of SSB, Frontier Headquarters (Tezpur) Pradeep Kumar Gupta and other top officials of the border guarding force met him at Tawang on Saturday.

"Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is doing commendable work in promoting the spirit of nationalism among the border populace. A pleasure meeting Shri Pradeep Kumar Gupta, IG, Frontier Hq, SSB, Tezpur and other top officials of the border guarding force today at Tawang during his call on," Khandu tweeted.

It may be mentioned that Khandu has recently paid a three-day visit to the Indo-Tibet border areas and interacted with the Armed Forces personnel posted there overseeing the country's borders (LAC) in the Himalayan state. During the visit, he also met the residents of border villages and assured them of basic services of road, water, electricity and mobile connectivity.

For this, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh showered praise on the young Chief Minister.

"Great going Pemaji, people living in border areas are India's strategic assets. Reaching out to them is highly praiseworthy," Rajnath Singh had said in a tweet.
