9 COVID-19 deaths reported in Meghalaya in 24 hours

Shillong, June 8: Nine deaths were today reported across Meghalaya due to COVID-19 while the recovery rate continued to show and upward trend in comparison to registration of new cases.

Of the nine deaths, six were reported from East Khasi Hills district. Two deaths were reported form West Khasi Hills district and one death was reported from East Jaintia Hills district.

In the past 24 hours, the State registered 773 persons testing negative. Most of these recoveries were from East Khasi Hills district which reported 371 recoveries.

In Ri-Bhoi district 142 recoveries were reported, West Garo Hills reported 83, South West Garo Hills 51, East Jaintia Hills 39 and West Jaintia Hills 27 recoveries.

New cases were registered mostly from East Khasi Hills with 149 cases. West Garo Hills registered 52 new cases, West Jaintia Hills 40, North Garo Hills 36, South West Garo Hills 24 and South West Khasi Hills 23.

The death toll in the state has touched 678. The total positive cases reported in the state so far is 39535 and 33933 persons have recovered from the infection. Currently there are 4924 active cases in the State.
