North East Adventure Tourism Festival at Bagamati from Sept 13

GORESWAR, Sept 8 - The North East Adventure Tourism Festival, 2018 is being organised at Bagamati in Baksa district with a four-day-long programme from September 13 under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati. The title sponsor of the festival is the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong and the co-sponsors are the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), ATDC of Assam, Bodoland Tourism, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare of Assam and Tourism of India.

On September 13, the programme includes inauguration of stalls, adventure activities, sport climbing, trekking, rafting, tubing, rope activities, river crossing, ATV riding, paramotor, parasailing, jeep safari, elephant safari, paintball, Bocce etc. These will be inaugurated in a function where the state minister of Health and Finance, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will take part as chief guest with many guests of honour like the BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, Chandan Brahma, state minister of Tourism, Khampa Bargoyari, Deputy chief of BTC, Biswajit Daimary, Rajya Sabha MP, Dr KP Krishnan, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Ram Muivah, IAS, Secretary of NEC Shillong. Many special invitees like Jayanta Mallah Baruah, Chairman of ATDC, SS Debabarman, Regional Director of India Tourism, Col HK Chouhan, president, IMF, New Delhi, Swadesh Kumar, president of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, KM Damo, president , IMF, Northeast chapter will also be present.

The inaugural session will be jointly chaired by Dr Abhijit Sharma, Director of IIE and Ganesh Kachary, EM of BTC. A cultural programme will be held in the evening.

On September 14, a bike rally from Kokrajhar to Bagamati will begin from 5:30 am and adventure activities will start from 9 am at Bagamati. The second day�s festival will end with cultural events.

On September 15, a cycle race from Baihata Chariali to Bagamati will be flagged off in the morning. Following the adventure activities, two separate sessions on the topic of �promotion of home stay and rural tourism� and �Scope of Adventure Tourism in Northeast Region� will be held.

On September 16, the last day of the festival will begin with a trail run (both male and female) in Bagamati. Following these, an open session will be held where prizes also will also be distributed.
