North Central, South Central score big totals

GUWAHATI, March 24 - North Central Railway SA (NCRSA) and South Central Railway SA (SCRSA) piled up big totals in the semifinal matches of the 61st Inter Railway Cricket Championship.

On the opening day�s play of the three-day semifinals, NCRSA scored 257 all out in 82.2 overs in the first innings against North Western Railway SA (NWRSA) at the Assam Cricket Association�s Barsapara stadium here today. Md Arif (60 off 175 balls, 4x7) and Md Zahid Ali (55 off 81 balls, 4x6) were their leading contributors while Gaurav Khatri scalped six for NWRSA giving away 43 runs.

In reply NWRSA were 13 for one at the end of the day�s play.

At the NF Railway Stadium, Maligaon, SCRSA amassed 269 for four in 90 overs against Central Railway SA. The highlight of the SCRSA innings was an unbeaten 105 off 191 balls by G Chiranjeevi. He hit 14 boundaries and two sixes. M Suresh was the other leading scorer who smacked 89 off 243 deliveries.

Brief scores: NCRSA 1st innings 257 (Md Arif 60, Md Zahid Ali 55, Muddsar Khan 35, Sandeep Yadav 29, JP Singh 24; Gaurav Khatri 6/43, Madhur Khatri 2/56). NWRSA 1st innings 13/1.

SCRSA 1st innings 269/4 (G Chiranjeevi not out 105, M Suresh 89, SC Mohanty 25).
