Normalcy yet to return to storm-hit Kampur

KAMPUR, May 15 � The trauma of the recent devastating storm that lashed Kampur circle over a fortnight ago leaving behind a trail of destruction all round the circle including death of three persons, is still haunting the people of Kampur circle which is supposed to be worst-hit area in the hurricane.

To add to the woes of the people, power supply and water supply systems, etc; could not be restored till date as the electricity lines were completely snapped by the storm although engineers and workers are doing their best to restore power system in Kampur revenue circle.

When contacted, the senior BDO of Kothiatoli Block, Ananta Kumar Gogoi, who is also incharge of Kampur revenue circle, informed this correspondent that assessment of the loss of lives and properties is going on in full swing so as to start relief and rehabilitation works at the earliest.

In the meantime, Rockybul Hussains Forest and Tourism Minister, Bibhuti Bhusan Barthakur, vice president of Youth Congress along with a number of high officials visited the worst-hit areas of Kampur and Raha circle to provide succour to the grief-stricken people.

AGP members join Cong: The prospects of Congress has brightened in Barhampur Legislative Assembly Constituency with the joining of the Congress party by more than a hundred AGP members of Niz-Kampur Gaon-Panchayat AGP party along with its president Purna Kakati and secretary Narayan Nath. The AGP workers are stated to be disillusioned and disappointed by the lackasical attitude of AGP during the last few years. The call for the merger in Congress was given by Bibhuti Barthakur, former NSUI president and the present vice president of State Youth Congress.
