Normal train services likely from Oct 15

GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - Train services between the north-eastern region and the rest of the country are likely to be normalised by October 15.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chahatey Ram told reporters here today that services of all long-distance passenger trains from this region would resume by mid-October.

�The services of all long-distance trains operating to and from this region will be resumed by October 15,� Ram said.

Train services to and from the north-eastern region had got severed on August 13 following heavy floods in eastern Bihar. While goods train services were restarted on August 29, the passenger services resumed on September 2.

However, till now services of only a few long-distance trains have been resumed, while those of many others still remain cancelled.

Ram added that goods trains are running normally and foodgrain and other items are coming in regular consignments.
