MORIGAON, Sept 4 - Normal life was paralysed in Morigaon district following the 12-hour central Assam bandh from 6 am today called by the Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Forum in protest against the physical assault on SULFA members by some businessmen in Nagaon recently.

Shops and business establishments remained closed, while all types of vehicles stayed off the roads. The bandh supporters blocked the Morigaon-Jagiroad PWD roads at several places. They also blocked the Morigaon-Bhurbandha Road near Morigaon Gandhi Bhawan.

Police rushed to the spot and cleared the road at around 11 am. On the other hand, ASTC buses were plying on National Highway-37 with police escort. Though Government offices were open, but attendance was thin.
