GUWAHATI, Jan 18 - With the biggest derby in Indian football finally taking place on Sunday between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, Nongdamba Naorem is determined to give his 100 per cent on the pitch.
Nongdamba, a member of the India U-17 team which participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup is currently playing for Mohun Bagan.
After being rescheduled several times after protests against CAA in West Bengal, the much-awaited match between two of the giants � Mohun Bagan and East Bengal will finally take place tomorrow. According to a release from Mohun Bagan the police authority has asked for a restricted number of spectators.
Nongdamba will make his second appearance in the derby match and said that playing in such a match full of pressure is indeed a big achievement for him.
�For me it�s like a dream come true as I am playing for the second time and I expect that like previous years the fans will show extreme enthusiasm amidst such a splendid environment,� the Manipur-born footballer said.
Born in Wabagai, Manipur, Nongdamba was part of the Minerva Punjab youth team. After the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Nongdamba was selected to play for the Indian Arrows, on loan from Minerva Punjab.
Adding further, Nongdamba said that the fight is for the three points regardless the team Mohun Bagan faces.
�The pressure is there before every game and although the derby is one of the important games for us it is the same whether it is East Bengal or Minerva FC. We have to fight for the three points and we prepare ourselves before each game,� Nongdamba added.
