Non-provincialised school teachers stage sit-in stir

GUWAHATI, Sept 5 - Coinciding with the Teachers� Day celebrations, a sit-in demonstration was staged in the city by hundreds of teachers from non-provincialised educational institutions of the State under the aegis of the Asom Sishak Karmachari Aikya Mancha in support of their various demands.

Following the protest, the Mancha submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister�s office citing their demands. The Mancha urged the government to issue order of appointment to eligible incumbents expeditiously as per law and to amend the Assam Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Re-organisation of Educational Institution) Act-2017, the Non-Teaching Staff Provincialisation Act-2018 and the Assam Madrassa Provincialisation Act-2018.

The Mancha also demanded regularisation of jobs of the teachers and employees of venture educational institutions of the State which were established before January, 2016, and to sanction satisfactory grant to the teachers and employees who have already retired from the non-provincialised educational institutions without salary, and to the families of the teachers and employees who expired during their service period.

They also demanded implementation of the BTC Education (Provincialisation of Services of Teachers and Re-organisation of Educational Institution) Bill-2017.
