Nokma body moves Govt over lockdown violation

By Correspondent

TURA, July 20 - The Nokma Association of South Garo Hills (SGH) has written to Home Minister Lakhmen Rymbui, after a person from Goalpara in Assam, entered the district despite restrictions imposed by the state on inter-state travel, while the district administration chose to ignore the matter.

As per the complaint, the association stated that one Suman Ali (Solomon) by profession a mechanic, had entered the district from his home town of Goalpara in Assam, which they alleged was a red zone for the COVID-19 pandemic. He had entered in April to collect his dues for the job he had done for the police department in terms of repair of vehicles.

Angered by the inaction of the South Garo Hills administration after their complaints, the Nokma Association wrote to the Home Minister seeking strict action against violator Solomon.

He came to Baghmara to receive payments which were due to him from the police department on April 30. As per call records, he stayed at the Baghmara Police Reserve. We submitted a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner with a copy to the Superintendent of Police of SGH, though they remained indifferent.
