MORIGAON, Oct 10 A no-confidence motion was raised against the CEM of Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC), Ramakanta Deuri by 17 members of the council in a meeting held at Morigaon TAC office today.

However, Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon, who was the observer in the meeting, said that there was a Gauhati High Court injunction to convene the meeting today and as such there would be no implementation of todays no-confidence motion till another general meeting of the council.

Meanwhile, protesting the intervention in TACs affairs by ruling partys ministers, the All Tiwa Students Union and Tiwa Yuva Chatra Parishad called a 12-hour central Assam bandh today from 5 am, evoking total response in Morigaon and parts of Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) districts. The bandh supporters damaged several private vehicles by pelting stones, at Jagiroad, Nellie and Kathiatoli.
