MANGALDAI, June 14 - Kuladhar Saikia, the Director General of Assam Police has ruled out any intelligence report regarding religious fundamental forces preparing an evil design to create a law-and-order situation following the publication of the second and final draft list of NRC by the end of this month.
He was talking to the media immediately after a high-level review meeting on the security scenario of the ongoing NRC update process as well as the post-draft publication for the three northern Assam districts, namely, Darrang, Udalguri and Sonitpur at Mangaldai on Wednesday.
In reply to a question from mediapersons regarding a recent report in a section of the media (not The Assam Tribune) that intelligence sources has identified Kharupetia area as the most vulnerable where religious fundamental forces linked to Bangladesh and Kerala have stepped up their activities for violent activities after the publication of final draft of the NRC, DGP Saikia denied receiving any such inputs from intelligence sources while he asserted introduction of both technical and human intelligence mechanism to gather all confirmed reports. �We have no such specific reports and we have planned how to collect ground reports from human intelligence along with technical intelligence,� he maintained .
The State Police Chief also assured that the security measures so far taken in support with paramilitary forces have been satisfactory and they are ready to strongly deal with any situation that may disturb the law-and-order situation. �The SPs of the respective districts have identified the vulnerable NRC seva kendras and additional forces have been made ready as per their requirement. We are completely ready to complete the NRC process peacefully,� DGP Saikia added.
The closed-door review at the auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner, Darrang was presided over by the Chief Secretary of the State TY Das and it was attended by several senior officials of the State government including Additional Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, Police Superintendents of all the relevant districts, senior officials from the Army and paramilitary forces, among others.
