No talks with NDFB(S): DGP

By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Dec 31 Assam Police today ruled out any possibility of talks with the NDFB(S) and the ULFA(I) and said that intense operations would continue against these two outfits, reports PTI.

The discussions usually take place with the main group. The Government is already holding talks with the ULFA and the NDFB. The existing underground groups are just splinter units, Director General of Police Khagen Sarma told reporters here.

He said NDFB(S), which carried out serial attacks last week in some districts, was not a militant organisation but a criminal group.

Intense operations against these two groups will continue so that they cannot rise their heads again, Sarma said.

Our Staff Reporter adds: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday registered four cases in connection with the killing of more than 70 persons in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts by NDFB(S) militants.

NIA sources said that the investigation agency registered the cases, RC-04/2014 in connection with the killings in Dhekiajuli, RC-05/2015 in connection with the incident in Biswanath Chariali, RC-06/2014 in connection with Kokrajhar incident and RC-07/2014 in connection with the incidents in the same district. The cases have been registered under the provisions of different sections of the IPC, Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Two NIA teams have already left for Kokrajhar and Sonitpur to start the investigations, sources said.
