No relaxation of lockdown rules in Dhubri dist

By Correspondent

DHUBRI, April 20 - Although there is a news that the State government is likely to ease various lockdown rules from April 21, the Dhubri district administration has clearly stated that any such relaxation will not be applicable to Dhubri district.

Talking to this correspondent, ADC Sharfaraj Ahmed said, Even if the State government relaxes some of the lockdown norms, such relaxations will not be applicable for a COVID-19 Red Zone district like Dhubri. He added that the denizens of the district will have to follow all the ongoing regulations of lockdown and urged the people to stay at home.

However, there has been several complaints against the District administration and the department of Food and Civil Supplies for uneven distribution of rations in Dhubri town area. Most people complained that out of 16 wards, the poor people from only six wards were given essential items by the administration. The required essential commodities for rest of the wards have not yet been sent by the authority concerned. Therefore, we could not supply them, said Bipin Chakravarty, DDS, Dhubri. He also added that they have already suspended the licences of six fair price shops and Gram Panchayat Samabay Samiti ration distribution centres for not providing the items as per norms.

Meanwhile in the entire Dhubri district till Monday, as many as 2683 persons are in home quarantine, 265 in mass quarantine and 8 are in different centres. Till now, 327 have been released from these centres. A total of 244 samples for COVID-19 test have been collected in the district, out of which 4 cases have become positive, 207 negative and results of 33 tests are awaited.
