By Correspondent

KALAIGAON, April 4 - People of Kalaigaon living within the jurisdiction of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle area (with 106 revenue villages) have been suffering a lot due to the absence of a regular Revenue Circle Officer for several months since its circle officer DN Hazarika was promoted and transferred as ADC at Udalguri.

No circle officer has been appointed at Kalaigaon since his transfer to Udalguri causing untold misery to common people mostly students community. Surprisingly, ADC Hazarika has been given additional charge of SDO (Civil) of Bhergaon Subdivision at Bhergaon and Revenue Circle Officer at Kalaigaon.

Interestingly ADC Hazarika has to attend three most important offices in a day covering a distance of 65 km daily. The distance between Bhergaon and Kalaigaon is 30 km and Kalaigaon to Udalguri is 35 km. It is learned from government sources that Bhaskar Dutta Das, serving as circle officer at Haflong was transferred and posted as circle officer at Kalaigaon. But government modified the order and posted him at Borbhag recently.

It needs to be mentioned that Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office has been one of the nine oldest circle offices of Assam since British era. Students community has been suffering the most as they have to wait for days and weeks for a caste, income or residential certificate from the office at Kalaigaon. Several organisations and people of Kalaigaon urged Assam government and BTC authority immediately to appoint one full-time circle officer at Kalaigaon.
