No question of Gaurav becoming CM: Gogoi

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 13 - Exuding confidence of a Congress victory in the 2016 Assembly polls in Assam, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that there is no question of his son and Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi being chosen for the post of Chief Minister after the polls.

Speaking to reporters at the State Secretariat here, Gogoi said, Congress victory is certain. But we will not have any alliances. We want to continue the rule of peace and development.

Regarding reports that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has endorsed him as the partys chief ministerial candidate, Gogoi said, Let the people of Assam first re-elect us. Then the issue of Chief Minister will arise. But I am in a fighting mood.

He, however, categorically stated that there is no question of Gaurav Gogoi becoming the Chief Minister if the Congress comes back to power.

Is the post of Chief Minister a family property? Gaurav does not have the proper experience to be the Chief Minister, said Gogoi. He added that the BJP is losing the script in the run-up to the polls.
