By Correspondent

TURA, March 20 - The brutal dacoity case of Garobadha in January this year is yet to see a breakthrough, while a victim left in a critical state is yet to recover from the injuries sustained during the assault by the criminals.

On January 23 last, a gang of about 20 dacoits, suspected to be from Assam, attacked the house of one Tapan Ghosh and looted everything, besides seriously injuring five members of the family.

The sensational case to focus mainly due to inaction by the police despite villagers rushing to the Garobadha Investigation Centre to inform the police about the incident. The late response by the police, who took about 90 minutes to reach the spot, barely 200 metres away.

The case was later handed over to a DSP though there has been no update on the outcome of the police investigation.

We have already spent over Rs 18 lakh on treatment but my father is still critical and doctors have virtually given up on him. We had to move him out of hospital due to a lack of money, said the eldest son Taposh.

The dacoity was condemned by all sections with National Peoples Party and United Democratic Party demanding compensation for the family.
