Guwahati, April 8: Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing a press conference at the State BJP head office here ruled out any possibility of imposing lockdown or night curfew in Assam.

Speaking of the upcoming Rongali Bihu celebrations in the State, Sarma said the State government will issue SOP very soon.

He said that at present on an average 35,000 COVID-19 tests are being conducted every day in the State and it would be increased to one lakh tests per day in the next one week.

He added that increase in the number of tests per day could lead to a surge in the number of positive cases, but there is no need to panic as the State is well prepared to deal with any contingency and vaccination drive is also progressing well.
