GUWAHATI, Feb 22 � The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has refuted suggestions about an alliance with the Congress party and said it will continue to adhere to its �Ekla Chalo� line.
AIUDF supremo and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal said in a statement that for many years speculations have been rife about AIUDF entering into an alliance with the Congress. �Since the inception of our party, such news emerges as soon as any elections approach. These (such speculations) are intended to sow confusion among AIUDF supporters,� he said.
Ajmal added, �We have always maintained equidistance from both the Congress and the BJP and have never entered into any alliance till now. And in future also we will maintain our policy of Ekla Chalo.�
He called upon party supporters to not get swayed by reports about alliance with the Congress.
