GUWAHATI, Sept 1 - Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today told the Assembly that the madrasa system of education shall no longer remain a part of the government education system.
Participating in a cut motion debate over education sector, the minister said the government had no plans to revive the madrasa education system that basically emphasises on religious preaching of the holy Quran.
The minister also said that even though Sanskrit tols have also been discontinued due to similar reasons, the tols would be restructured as centres of ancient studies.
