No infighting in Cachar BJP, claims Rajdeep Roy

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, March 20 - Quelling reports of deep fissures in the partys Cachar district unit, Dr Rajdeep Roy, State general secretary and member secretary of the election committee of the BJP, said, There is no infighting in the party. Former MP and veteran leader Kabindra Purakystha has showered his blessings to each candidate of the party contesting in the Assembly elections and he will be seen campaigning for the candidates as well.

It may be mentioned that Kabindra was not seen with the candidates of Cachar district on March 17 when they rallied their way to submit nominations. Also, he had stepped down from the post of chairman of BJPs Assam State Vision Document committee soon after the party announced the list of candidates for the Assembly elections.

Interestingly, even as there was no explicit reason of his sudden resignation, but a section of the party insiders feel that he had quit because his son Kanad Purakystha was denied a poll ticket from Borkhola constituency. However, Roy said that the BJP leadership is all set to campaign for the candidates of Barak Valley.

Some of the top-notch leaders of the party, including Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, chief of BJP West Bengal women wing Rupa Ganguly, BJP national spokesperson, Shanawaz Hussain Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Shazia Ilmi are slated to arrive and woo the voters in poll-bound Barak Valley.

Further, he informed that the party is preparing for the mega meeting at Karimganj to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 27. Assam BJP president and Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Kamakhya Prasad Tasha and other top leaders of the State committee will also be seen during the meeting, Roy added.
