No decision against indigenous people: Rijiju

NEW DELHI, May 21 - The Centre will not take any decision that will threaten the security and identity of indigenous people, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said here today.

Talking to newsmen after meeting a delegation of the North East Women Front (NEWF) led by former State minister Rekha Rani Das Boro, the Union minister said that no such decision will be taken by the government that will hurt emotions of the indigenous people.

�The people can be rest assured that we will not take any action to hurt the feelings of the indigenous people,� Rijiju said. �As a person from the Northeast... I am aware about the feelings of the people,� the minister added.

The NEWF submitted a memorandum to the Minister of State for Home Affairs opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
