DULIAJAN, July 27 - Beginning a new series of democratic movement against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) today staged protest demonstrations at Duliajan and Naharkatia. Even as AASU activists formed human chains, the air resonated with slogans such as No CAA, Scrape CAA, etc.

At the call of the Dibrugarh district unit of the AASU, the Duliajan regional unit staged a two-hour protest programme at Pipaltol Tiniali here from 11 am. More than 200 AASU activists joined the protest demonstration that was later joined by members of Duliajan units of the All Assam Gorkha Students Union and the All Assam Chutiya Students Union.

Expressing dismay over the contentious Act, AASU central cultural secretary Anil Gogoi said the protest against the CAA will continue till it was scrapped. The sacrifices of the people of Assam against the CAA will not be allowed to go in vain, he asserted.

On the other hand, over 100 activists took part in the demonstration at Naharkatia. They formed the human chain in front of the Naharkatia AASU unit office.
