DIMAPUR, Nov 10 - The working committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) has appealed to all Naga groups to prepare themselves for �unconditional unity�, saying it stands for unity without any condition.
The media cell of the committee issued a release today following NSCN (IM)�s statement on November 6 appealing to different groups to get on board the Framework Agreement and be a part of the final solution in the greater interests of the people, peace and progress in the land.
The release said issuing a statement at this point of time urging Naga groups to join the NSCN (IM) under the Framework Agreement was a tragedy.
It asked whether the appeal was intended to reach out to those groups not party to the ongoing peace process with the government of India or the working committee of NNPGs.
The release said if the appeal was intended to the working committee to come under the Framework Agreement, the NSCN (IM) leadership may consider a few points as to why the agreement was and will remain an inferior political document.
�No doubt it was a good photo opportunity for IM leaders, yet posterity will hold on to the content of both the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 and Agreed Position or Preamble signed between the government of India and NNPGs on November17, 2017. Naga generations will treasure the contents of the documents and not the photos,� the committee said.
�As simple as it sounds, no nation on the earth can say Nagas do not have a unique history and situation. Does this recognition assure or guarantee our right to self-determination? No, the Framework Agreement of NSCN (IM) simply recognises our past history,� it said.
The release said no one, be its working committee of NNPGs or NSCN (IM), should try to fool the Nagas as they have grasped the reality and added that high decibel rhetorical statements do not turn lies into truth.
Reminding that NNPGs stood for Naga unity without any condition, the committee said they will not set any condition to any individual or group.
Saying that Nagas have seen and heard enough of the slogan �the door es open�, the committee said it has further scattered the Nagas in the past rather than regrouping them.
The release said the working committee negotiated with the government of India �on the principle and basis of 1929 Naga memorandum and 1951 Naga plebiscite�.
IANS adds: Nagaland�s opposition Naga People�s Front (NPF) has appealed to both the Central government and Naga groups to arrive at a �logical, acceptable and honourable� solution to the decades-old Naga insurgency.
�The NPF has appealed to both the Indian government and the Naga negotiators to give space to each other by understanding each other�s difficulties and arrive at a logical, acceptable and honourable conclusion keeping in mind of the complex situation in the region and the world at large,� the NPF statement said.
The NPF reiterated that its top priority is to work and assist in any possible manner on any approach for a peaceful solution of the �Indo-Naga� political issue.
