AGARTALA, March 2 Dhanu Koloi, a surrendered National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) commander, was booked under National Security Act (NSA), official sources confirmed here on Monday.

Dhanu, who used to keep in touch with the outlawed NLFT, was caught by police in June, 2012 along with two of his companions Bishu Koloi and Ratasree Koloi from Jirania and Radhanagar area here while carrying a huge cash of Rs 25 lakh.

Since then he has been languishing in jail. Before his tenure of imprisonment ended yesterday, Dhanu was detained under NSA by District Magistrate (DM) Abhishek Singh.

Following a report of SP, West district Bijoy Kumar Nag, the DM slapped NSA on the dreaded militant. In his report, the SP said police have reports of fresh initiative, launched by a group of surrendered militants to re-activate the outfits operations in the State, ahead of the TTAADC polls.

Interestingly, his two companions had fled to Bangladesh after securing bail from the court.

It has been alleged that they had been trying to hand over the money to NLFT based in Bangladesh. Even if Dhanu Koloi was booked under the stringent NSA, he could challenge the DMs move before the High Court or the NSA Board.
