NLFT a divided house now, says returnee

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Jan 12 NLFT supremo Biswamohan Debbrama is on the run to evade law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh, according to his trusted comrade and outfits Chief of Army Staff Pasaram Tripura.

Pasaram, who surrendered before DGP C Balasubramanian on Friday, has been undergoing interrogation by the sleuths of the Tripura police as well as Central security forces at Joint Interrogation Cell of the Special Branch.

During interrogation, he said, I did not meet him for a long time because he kept changing his base from Dhaka to Myanmar to evade the Bangladesh law enforcement agencies.

Confirming that the NLFT cadres are not getting free movement in Bangladesh as they enjoyed earlier, Pasaram told the sleuths, The outfit turned into a divided house as a group of NLFT cadres headed by Panthar Debbarma alias Pandi has been vehemently opposing surrender or beginning of peace talks with the government. There are also a sizeable number of armed cadres who want to end the arms struggle to pave the way for peace talks.

Pasaram, who carries a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh, further said the NLFT has been losing its ground due to various factors.

The NSCN (Khaplang), which has been trying to bring all the NE outfits on a common platform, had invited the NLFT leadership to attend a crucial meeting in Myanmar. However, later, the NSCN (K) changed its decision and avoided the NLFT, he claimed.

Pasaram, who surrendered with his wife and three daughters, added that an acrimonious atmosphere is brewing within the NLFT leadership on various issues like misappropriation of fund, religious faith and various other issues that has resulted in frustration and compelled him to return to the mainstream.
