Nitish wins GTC chess GP

GUWAHATI, July 19 - Nitish Das clinched the title in the 7th the Gauhati Town Club (GTC) Chess Grand Prix held at the GTC club house here today.

Altogether 48 players participated in this day-long event. The tournament was played in two categories-U-9 and U-19 and was conducted by Biswajit Bharadwaj as the chief arbiter. He was assisted by Padma Gogoi, Ravikant Tiwari and Nandan Buragohain as his deputy.

Final results: (U-19) Nitish Das, Debanga Kalita, Tridev Buragohain, Prasurjya Gayan, Kaustav Lahiri, Neeraj Pratap Hazarika, Amlan Mahanta, Punit Basu, Abhilekh Mahanta, Krishi Pallav Chutia. (Best girl) Adreeja Sinha, Prapti Debabrat, Archana Deka. (U-11) Aryan Dutta, Achitanga Kashyap, Navya Bajaj. (Best U-13) Maharnav Deka, Pranit Malhotra, Vishesh Bajaj.
